First confirmed Japanese tsunami debris in Calif.


In 2011, an earthquake in Japan triggered powerful tsunami waves that reached heights over 100 feet and traveled over five miles inland. 

A boat that washed ashore on the California coast is now confirmed as having come from the tsunami's destruction.

CRESCENT CITY, Calif. — Federal officials say a fishing boat that washed ashore in Northern California is the first debris to reach the state that's been confirmed as having come from the Japanese tsunami.
The Del Norte Triplicate reports that the 20-foot vessel belongs to the marine sciences program at Takata High School in the town of Rikuzentakata in the Iwate prefecture. It washed ashore in Crescent City on April 7.
The National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration confirmed the boat's origin on Thursday with help from the Japanese Consulate in San Francisco.
NOAA spokeswoman Keeley Belva says the skiff is the first confirmed debris in California from the 2011 Japanese tsunami. In total, 27 items from among more than 1,600 reports of debris have been firmly traced back to the tsunami.

You see? It's curious. Ted did figure it out - time travel. And when we get back, we gonna tell everyone. How it's possible, how it's done, what the dangers are. But then why fifty years in the future when the spacecraft encounters a black hole does the computer call it an 'unknown entry event'? Why don't they know? If they don't know, that means we never told anyone. And if we never told anyone it means we never made it back. Hence we die down here. Just as a matter of deductive logic.
