3 killed as medical helicopter crashes in elementary school parking lot in Kentucky.

 Three people were killed when a medical helicopter crashed in Kentucky late Thursday night, officials said.

The Air Evac Lifeteam aircraft crashed in the parking lot of an elementary school at about 11:30 p.m. ET in Clay County shortly after transferring a patient to a hospital in Laurel County, NBC station WLEX-TV reported.

The school was not damaged, but a power line was hit. Witnesses said there was fog in the area at the time.
Air Evac confirmed the fatalities in a statement on its Facebook page.

“We are devastated at the loss of these crew members who we consider family,” it said.

“We have no details regarding the cause of the accident but will be working with the NTSB in coming days as they conduct their investigation,” it added.

The crew members were based in Manchester, Ky.
Crews are on the scene of a deadly helicopter crash in Clay County.

At least three people are dead.

The crash happened around 11:30 Thursday night in Manchester at an elementary school parking lot just a few hundred feet from where the Air-Evac crew was set to land. They had just transferred a patient to a Laurel County hospital and were on thier way back. Pilot Eddy Sizemore, Flight Nurse Jesse Jones and Flight Paramedic Herman Lee Dobbs were all killed.

Witnessess say there was dense fog in the area where the crash happened. Air-Evac posted this message on their Facebook page just hours after the crash:

"We are saddened to confirm that three members of our Manchester, Kentucky crew were killed in a helicopter accident late Thursday evening. We are devastated at the loss of these crew members who we consider family. We have no details regarding the cause of the accident but will be working with the
NTSB in coming days as they conduct their investigation. We thank you all for your messages of support.

Please keep these crew members famiily/friends and the AEL Family in your thoughts and prayers."

If they don't know, that means we never told anyone. And if we never told anyone it means we never made it back. Hence we die down here. Just as a matter of deductive logic.
