At least 50 people were killed in a traffic accident in central Ghazni province early Sunday, local officials said.
In addition, 57 other people were injured.
The incident took place in Muqur district of the province after two passenger buses crashed with a fuel tanker, a spokesman for the provincial governor, Aghagul Jawid Salangi said.
"The buses caught fire after the crash and most of the injured people are in a critical condition," he said.
Muqur police officials said they are investigating the cause of the accident but said early findings indicate reckless driving was the cause.
