An EgyptAir flight en route to Cairo from Paris disappeared from radar shortly after entering Egyptian airpsace, the airline said in a series of tweets Wednesday night.
According to the airline, 56 passengers, 3 EgyptAir security personnel and 7 crew members were onboard the aircraft, an Airbus A320. Of the 56 passengers, there was one child and two infants, the airline said.
EgyptAir flight 804 left Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport at 11:09 p.m. It lost contact with the radar tracking system at 2:45 a.m. at 37,000 feet, after entering Egyptian airspace. (Both France and Egypt are in the same time zone.)
Rescue teams have been deployed, the airline said.
