German media report that officials say a suspect in an incident at a movie theater in the southwest of the country is dead.
The dpa news agency reported that Interior Minister Peter Beuth said in the Hesse state legislature in Wiesbaden that the man was shot dead.
Police say no one was injured.
Police earlier Thursday said that there was a "threat situation" at the Kinopolis movie theater in the town of Viernheim which probably involved a weapon. Spokeswoman Christiane Kobus said she couldn't give further details of what was happening.
She would not confirm unsourced German media reports that an armed man had entered the movie theater and fired at least one shot.
Norbert Schaetzle, a spokesman for police in the nearby city of Mannheim, said the police force there was not directly involved in the incident, but had sent officers to support their colleagues in the town.
